Configuring DHCP for Windows 95, 98, and ME

  1. Click Start - Settings - Control Panel.


  2. Double-click the Network icon on the Control Panel.


  3. Under The following network components are installed, locate the component called TCP/IP for your Ethernet card if you are using Ethernet. If you are dialing up, select TCP/IP ->Dial-Up Adapter. Click Properties.


  4. On the IP Address tab, make sure Obtain an IP address automatically is selected.


  5. On the WINS Configuration tab, make sure Use DHCP for WINS Resolution is selected.


  6. On the DNS Configuration tab, select Disable DNS.


  7. Click OK to exit the TCP/IP Properties window and then OK again to exit the Nework screen.
  8. Restart your computer when instructed to do so. After re-booting, your connection to the Internet should be properly setup.
