TCP/IP Control Panel Configuration

  1. Open the TCP/IP Control Panel.



  2. Locate the Connect via drop-down box and select PPP.

  3. Locate the Configure drop-down box and select Using PPP Server.

  4. The PPP server will supply IP address, subnet mask, and router address.
  5. Locate the Name Server addr text field and type 130.70.128.2, pres Return, and type 130.70.128.3 .
  6. Locate the Search domains text field and type louisiana.edu .


Configuring the PPP Control Panel
  1. Open the Remote Access control panel by clicking Apple - Control Panels - Remote Access.


  2. Click in the circle to the left of Registered User if it is not selected.

  3. Enter your CLID (UCS username) into the Name text field and your UCS password in the Password field.

  4. On-campus users enter 9,7617837 into the Number field. If you are off campus, enter 7617837. To disable call waiting include *70, before the phone number. Dialup to the campus network requires the use of a modem and a telephone line. Local and long-distance telephone charges may apply.


  5. Click Options and select the Connection tab. The option "Connect automatically when starting TCP/IP applications" should be selected.

  6. Select the Protocol tab. The options "Allow error correction and compression in modem" and "Use TCP header compression" should be selected. Do NOT select "Connect to a command-line host."
  7. Click OK to save changes and return to the PPP Control Panel.

  8. Once you have verified that the information is correct, click Connect to open the connection.
