Configuring Mac OS for STEP-UP

TCP/IP Control Panel Configuration for Mac OS 10.2

  1. Select the System Preferences from the dock.
  2. Dialup connection settings are now made at one location OSX. When System Preferences appears, click on the Network icon. Both your TCP/IP and PPP settings are made here.
  3. With the Network dialog box open, assure that Location: is set to Automatic and Configure: is set to Internal Modem. Click the TCP/IP tab and make the following settings:
  • Configure: Using PPP
  • Domain Name Servers: 130.70.182.2 or 230.70.128.3
  • Search Domains: louisiana.edu
    Next, click the PPP tab highlighted, set the following parameters:
  1. With the PPP tab highlighted, set the following parameters:
  • Service: {username}/i
  • Provider:
  • Telephone number: On campus users enter 20987. If you are off campus, enter 4280987. To disable call waiting, include *70 before the phone number.
  • Alternative Number:
  • Account Name: {username}@louisiana.edu
  • Password: {your password}
  • Save Password: CHECKED
  1. Select the Finder from the dock.
  2. Your dialer has been automatically configured from your louisiana.edu account. To use your dialer, click Applications icon.
  3. Once you open the Application folder, locate the Internet Connect icon, this is your dialer, click it and get online. Optionally, you can click and drag this icon down to your dock so it will always be available to you without having to open any windows.
