Creating a Dialup Connection Icon
Dialup to the campus network requires the use of a modem and a telephone line. Local and long-distance telephone charges may apply.
  1. Double-click My Computer on your desktop.
  2. Double-click Dial-up Networking.
  3. Double-click Make New Connection.
  4. In the text field, type a name for the new connection (eg. UL Internet, Internet, etc.) and click Next.
  5. On-campus users must enter 0029#9,761-7837 for the telephone number. If you are off campus type 761-7837. To disable call waiting from off-campus type *70,761-7837. Once you have entered the correct phone number, click Next.
  6. Click Finish.
Connecting to STEP-UP
  1. Double-Click My Computer.
  2. Double-click Dial-Up Networking and then double-click your new STEP-UP icon.
  3. Type your CLID (UCS username) in the User Name text field and your UCS password in the Password field.
  4. Click Connect.
  5. When you are ready to disconnect, locate the connection icon on the bottom right-hand corner of the screen near the clock. Double-click the icon and click Disconnect.
