Creating a Dialup Connection Icon
Dialup to the campus network requires the use of a modem and a telephone line. Local and long-distance telephone charges may apply.

  1. Click Start - Control Panel.


  2. Select Network and Internet Connections.


  3. Click Network Connections.


  4. Select Make New Connection from the Network Tasks side menu.


  5. The New Connection Wizard will appear on the screen. Click Next.
  6. Select "Connect to the Internet" and click Next.
  7. Click the option "Set up my connection manually". Click Next.
  8. Select "Connect using a dial-up modem" and click Next.
  9. In the text field, type a name for the new connection (eg. UL Internet, Internet, etc.) and click Next.
  10. Enter the telephone number. On-campus users must enter 0029#9,761-7837. If you are off campus, type 761-7837. To disable call waiting from off-campus type *70,761-7837. Once you have entered the correct phone number, click Next.
  11. Enter your User Name and Password in the correct text fields, then click Next.
  12. If you want a shortcut on your desktop, select the check box next to Add a shortcut to this connection to my desktop, then click Finish.
Connecting to STEP-UP
  1. Click Start - Connect to - (the name of your connection).
  2. Click Dial.
  3. When you are ready to disconnect, locate the connection icon on the bottom right-hand corner of the screen near the clock. Double-click the icon and click Disconnect.
