Creating a Dialup Connection Icon
Dialup to the campus network requires the use of a modem
and a telephone line. Local and long-distance telephone charges
may apply.
- Click Start - Control Panel.
- Select Network and Internet Connections.
- Click Network Connections.
- Select Make New Connection from the Network Tasks
side menu.
- The New Connection Wizard will appear on the screen.
Click Next.
- Select "Connect to the Internet" and
click Next.
- Click the option "Set up my connection manually".
Click Next.
- Select "Connect using a dial-up modem"
and click Next.
- In the text field, type a name for the new connection
(eg. UL Internet, Internet, etc.) and click Next.
- Enter the telephone number. On-campus users must enter
0029#9,761-7837. If you are off campus, type 761-7837.
To disable call waiting from off-campus type *70,761-7837.
Once you have entered the correct phone number, click Next.
- Enter your User Name and Password in the
correct text fields, then click Next.
- If you want a shortcut on your desktop, select the check
box next to Add a shortcut to this connection to my desktop,
then click Finish.
Connecting to STEP-UP
- Click Start - Connect to - (the name
of your connection).
- Click Dial.
- When you are ready to disconnect, locate the connection
icon on the bottom right-hand corner of the screen near
the clock. Double-click the icon and click Disconnect.
