Telnet to UCS using SSH with PuTTY

To telnet to a UCS workstation you must first establish an Internet connection. Instructions on dialing up through the University are available.

Follow the instructions below to establish a secure SSH telnet session

PuTTY is a free Win32 implementation of the SSH program commonly found on Unix platforms, along with an xterm terminal emulator. Click [here] to visit the site to download your copy
  1. Download and place this program where you can click on it to start a session. Your icon should look similar to the one below.


  2. Double click this icon to start the program. The screen below will be the section you enter information to establish a connection.



  3. In the box under the section labeled Host Name (or IP address) type 'd##.ucs.louisiana.edu' where ## is a number between 1 and 116 and click Open.
  4. (example below)



    You have successfully created a secure telnet session. You may now begin typing UNIX commands.
