Telnet to UCS workstations using Mac OS

Telnet software is not included with current versions of the Macintosh operating system. This software must be installed by the end user and may be downloaded via the Web. A popular Mac OS Telnet application is MacSSH. It may be downloaded from the Web at http://www.macssh.com/

Logging Into Your UCS Account With MacSSH

  1. Once you have downloaded and installed MacSSH, double-click the application icon.
  2. Click File and select Open Connection.
  3. In the Host Name text box, type d##.ucs.louisiana.edu where ## is any number between 1 and 116 and click Connect.



  4. From here a window will appear prompting you for your login:. Type in the username issued to you by the Help Desk and press Return. You should now see a prompt for your Password:. Type in your password (it will not display on the screen) and press Return.



  5. System messages may be displayed on the screen. If so press Return until you see a command prompt (d##.ucs.louisiana.edu%). You may begin entering commands at the command prompt. NOTE: If you are logging in for the first time you will be prompted to enter your password a second time. Do so and press Return.
