These instructions are provided by the university help desk to simplify the wireless experience here at University of Louisiana at Lafayette.
-
Locate your network connection in your system tray. The image below shows this icon.
- Assuming you have already retrieved a wireless connection, we want to make sure that the connection has received the correct access point. This Service Set Identifier (SSID), commonly refered to as the network name, should state UWIN. If this icon does not show that you are connected to "UWIN", you must disconnect and establish the correct connection. Right click on the systray icon and select View Available Wireless Networks as shown below.

- This opens the Wireless Network Connection screen showing that the computer did connect to the wrong access point. Make sure the incorrect access point is highlighted and click Disconnect. As shown below:

- After clicking Disconnect, you will see this screen. Select Yes to disconnect.

- Then we select the correct access point "UWIN" and choose Connect.

- The next screen we will select Connect Anyway. This will initiate the connection and aquire a campus IP address.

- This next screen confirms that you are connected to the "UWIN" access point. When we are satisfied that it is connected correctly, we can close the window by clicking X.

- Close all your browser windows and reopen a browser window and follow the instructions which appear in the browser.
If you still are having problems after following these steps please visit the help desk for further assistance.
