UConnect Portal

The UConnect portal is accessed via your web browser (Firefox is recommended for using UConnect).

You will need a current version of Java installed on your off-campus computer in order to use the UConnect portal.

Logging In:

Type or copy the following link into a web browser:

Use your CLID and password to log in to the UConnect portal.

The UConnect web portal provides access to files stored on your own computer and to the shared files stored on servers.

Accessing Fileshares

Fileshares, also known as CIFS (Common Internet File System), are the shared departmental files and folders located on University servers.

For example, your department may store expense reports on the M drive, which can be accessed by everyone in your department. The M drive is a fileshare.

You can create a bookmark to hold your Fileshare Connection settings.

Requirements for accessing fileshares:

  • Firefox
  • Java
  • Fileshare name (obtain this information from your department head or the I.T. Help Desk)

Accessing Remote Desktop

Remote Desktop allows you to log in to the computer at your desk and work as though you were in your office at the University.

You must leave your office computer on in order to use Remote Desktop. 

You can create a bookmark to hold your Remote Desktop Connection settings. 

Requirements for accessing Remote Desktop:

  • Firefox
  • Java
  • Computer name (in the format:

     To find your computer name: Click the Start button. In the "Search programs and files" field, type "computer name" and press the Enter key on your keyboard. Your Computer name will be listed under "Computer name, domain, and workgroup settings"
