Score-Only - Common Problems

  • Make sure that your students do not mark the key field. Any student sheet in the batch marked key will cause the new 'key' (i.e. student sheet) to be used to grade the remaining tests.
  • If there is a misfeed (form gets stuck in the Scantron and the yellow LED blinks), press the BLUE button on the Scantron machine which causes the form to be ejected to the right. Do not pull on the form as it will risk tearing the form.
  • Examine the form. Look for stray marks or bent edges. If you do not see any apparent problems with the form, try to submit the form again. If you continue to experience problems, you might have to copy the contents of the form to an new form or score the form by hand.
  • If you have questions or problems, contact Nola Navarre, SMH 146, or go to the IT Help Desk, SMH 201, for assistance.
  • If scoring a test with questions 1-50 on one side and 51-100 on the other, score the test as two separate exams and manually add the scores on both sides of the test.
  • Make sure students use a number 2 pencil (not an ink pen or marker).
  • Make sure there are no stray marks or incomplete erasures on the forms.
  • Make sure the forms are not ripped, folded, or crumpled.
  • Do not paper clip forms together. This can bend the form and cause it to misfeed.
