About STEP-UP
Computing Support Services provides dialup Internet access to University students, faculty, and staff. Once connected, users will be able to access a full range of TCP/IP services, including the World-Wide Web, electronic mail, Telnet, FTP, and other Internet-enabled applications.

As with all other computing facilities at UL Lafayette, users are to use the modem pool for academic purposes. Connection times will be limited to four hours per session and usage of the modem will be subject to UL Lafayette's Computing and Network Policy.

Users will need an active UCS account to access the dialup services through the University. UCS accounts are activated at the Help Desk in Stephens Hall, Room 201 (picture ID required for account activation).

Instructions for configuring a dialup connection to the campus network are provided below. Choose the operating system that pertains to your computer and just follow the instructions. Remember, this service only connects a computer to the Internet. In order to view web pages, an Internet Browser such as Netscape Communicator or Microsoft Internet Explorer must be opened.

STEP-UP is funded in part by the Student Techology Enhancement Program (STEP). Dialup to the campus network requires the use of a modem and a telephone line. Local and long-distance telephone charges may apply.

Configuration support is available via phone at (337) 482-5516.
