Update Your Mac

For University-owned machines:

A Managed Software Update pop-up will alert you that you have an update available.

Click on Update Now.

 

 

 

 

 

 

For personal Mac computers:

Users have two options: use Software Update from the Apple menu or download the updates from the Apple support site.

 

To update your Mac using Software Update:

Click on the Apple menu

Choose Software Update

In the Software Update window, select the items you want to install, then click Install.

Enter an Admin name and password if prompted

 

Updating your software in OS X Mountain Lion and later

In Mountain Lion and later, software updates come through the Mac App Store.

Click on the Apple menu

Choose Software Update

The App Store opens and displays any software updates available for OS X and Mac App Store apps.

OS X updates will be at the top of the list. 

Click the Update button next to the OS X updates.

Enter an Admin name and password if prompted

Enter an Apple ID name and password if prompted
